According to Lexington police, a person struck a light pole, approximately four vehicles and a restaurant on Russell Cave Road while operating a backhoe.

The crash happened shortly after noon at El Huarache on Russell Cave Road near New Circle Road. Lt. Daniel Truex of the Lexington Police Department said the driver of the backhoe had a medical emergency while operating the equipment, which led to the collision.

The driver was taken to a hospital as a precaution, according to Truex.

The building and vehicles sustained minor damage, according to Truex. Kentucky Utilities officials were called to the scene to repair the light pole.
