Like a scrum that pushes the ball downfield through a team effort, a joint venture of four contractors began construction on the NFL’s newest stadium on Feb. 29, according to a news release.
The Builders Alliance of Tennessee opened the new $2.1 billion Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, the future home of the Tennessee Titans.
The construction group consists of New York City-based Turner Construction; AECOM Hunt out of Indianapolis; Brentwood, Tenn.-based Polk & Associates Construction; and Nashville’s own ICF Builders and Consultants.

Turner and AECOM Hunt built the $5.5 billion SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers and the the most expensive place ever built. AECOM Hunt also built the $1.5 billion Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons, in a joint venture with Holder Construction, HJ Russell & Co. and Moody Construction Co. Turner is currently building the $1.4 billion Buffalo Bills Stadium in a JV with Gilbane.

The the stadium is the centerpiece of Nashville’s East Bank development district along the Cumberland River. The 1.8 million square foot facility will feature a translucent circular roof, multiple outdoor porches with views of the Nashville skyline, enhanced game views for all 62,000 seats and a 12,000-foot community event space squares that will be used throughout the year.
Along with Titans home games, the stadium will also host Tennessee State University football games and music concerts. It is also being touted as a potential site for the Super Bowl, as well as other major sporting events such as the NCAA Final Four basketball tournament and the College Football Playoffs.
“We aim to set a new standard with this project for stadium construction, safety practices, local business development and community engagement,” TBA Chief Executive Officer John Gromos said in the statement.
Construction of the stadium is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2027 season.
