The 20 projects recognized here are the result of a nearly year-long effort by ENR editors and about 100 members of the construction industry who judged the contest entries at various stages.

This year’s award winners, which represent the pinnacle of U.S. design and construction achievement for work completed between May 2022 and May 2023, showcase the industry at its best, with teams overcoming a range of challenges to deliver impactful community assets.

In response to ENR’s initial call for collaboration in March 2023, nearly 800 project teams submitted proposals. In each of ENR’s 10 regions, editors assembled judging teams to choose winners in 20 categories. Of these regional winners, almost 200 advanced to the national competition.

A new panel of judges examined them to determine the best of the best in terms of teamwork, safety, overcoming challenges, innovation and quality.

Three projects were shortlisted as Project of the Year, with the Microsoft Thermal Energy Center receiving top recognition. Join ENR in celebrating the winners at the Award for Excellence gala in New York City on April 11. For more information, visit ENRAwardofExcellence.com.
