Surveillance video from outside the store shows masked people using the backhoe to break the glass and then backing up a white pickup truck to the store’s entrance. After using the backhoe to smash the ATM inside the store, the video shows the masked people trying to attach a chain to the damaged ATM. But when the would-be thieves heard the sirens, they took off in the truck empty-handed, leaving the backhoe behind. Although they escaped without any cash, store owner Ali Abdulla told KGO that the incident caused thousands in damages.
