Yesterday’s heavy rains in Phayao province caused a sudden flood this destroyed a bridge, disrupting connectivity between Chiang Muan and Dok Khamtai districts. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, dragged two vehicles and left several people missing.

Authorities are currently mobilizing efforts to locate the missing people from Nong Lom village, hoping to find them alive. In the Chiang Muan area, of the five missing individuals, three bodies have been recovered while the search for the remaining two is underway.

The flood has caused significant damage to the bridge, prompting Highways Department officials to clear debris, including clumps of bamboo that have accumulated under the bridge structure. Later, earth will be brought in to temporarily repair the bridge to allow vehicle movement, KhaoSod reported.

Locals and authorities work together to search for missing people. A 52-year-old man from Nong Lom Village, Dok Khamtai District, Phayao Province, was found alive on a hill. The local government and road department are using a backhoe to clear clumps of bamboo and debris from under the bridge. The next step would be to bring earth to clear the way for vehicle transport.

An account by Khao Muang In, a 63-year-old local from Nong Lom village, Dok Khamtai district, sheds light on the terrible ordeal.
