Located along the Chicago River, the new 27-story, 650,000-square-foot headquarters of a global law firm offers an improved workplace design for 1,500 employees. The LEED Gold-oriented space combines river and lake views with interconnecting staircases, mouth-blown glass fixtures and collaborative services.

The project’s most complex obstacle, the engineering, fabrication and installation of six architecturally complicated staircases, required precision planning, custom cladding and even a helicopter lift for oversized fire doors. Long-lead lighting, hidden fire protection systems and 1,200 precision-cut pieces of stone required meticulous coordination.

Clune’s multi-subcontractor strategy kept the trades efficient, while 532,000 safe man-hours were achieved through task-specific hazard analyses, targeted safety breaks and weekly audits. The result is a dynamic, high-performance headquarters that improves productivity, fosters connection and sets a benchmark for building innovative and secure urban offices.
