Build UK has appointed Julie White as its new chair.

White, the owner and CEO of D-Drill & Sawing, succeeds former ISG CEO Paul Cossell, who is stepping down after less than two years. Cossell took over from Osborne’s former chief executive, Andy Steele.

White has run D-Drill & Sawing since 2008, when he completed a management buyout of the business, which specializes in diamond drilling and concrete sawing services. D-Drill & Sawing is exempt from reporting its turnover to Companies House as it is a small business.

White has also been chairman of the Drill & Sawing Association since 2018 and a board member of Build UK since it was established in 2015 as the trade body for contractors and subcontractors. Build UK now also has clients and other trade association members.

White was appointed at Build UK’s annual general meeting and will serve as chairman for two years. It is not known if anyone else ran for office.

White said: “I grew up in the industry and continue to live and breathe it every day. That’s why I’m absolutely delighted to be appointed Chair of Build UK for the next two years.

“Since its inception in 2015, I have believed in the value of having the entire supply chain around the table to develop solutions and give a strong collective voice to the sector.

“I can’t wait to get started and use my time and energy to make a difference in this great industry.”

Cossell has been contacted for comment.
