Occidental Petroleum Corp. and Calpine plan to build the Sutter decarbonization project. The project will demonstrate and deploy a commercial-scale carbon capture system at the Sutter Energy Center, which is a 550 MW natural gas combined cycle power plant near Yuba City. The project plans to use ION Clean Energy’s ICE-21 solvent to capture up to 1.75 million metric tons of carbon dioxide from this facility each year (equivalent to the annual emissions of nearly 390,000 gasoline cars ), transport and sequester it permanently and safely more than half a mile underground in saline geological formations. This project will be the first in the world to deploy an air cooling system in a carbon capture facility, which will eliminate the use of cooling water and significantly reduce the use of fresh water. Humboldt State University plans to build an engineering and technology building on its Arcata campus. The City of Inglewood has prequalified three teams seeking to provide design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance services to support the Inglewood Transit Connector project, including fixed ATS facilities and other miscellaneous infrastructure. The two-story, 115,000-square-foot building will be located on a 12-acre site at the intersection of Route 20 and Robal Road. It will contain a state-of-the-art learning center for children; flexible meeting spaces for a variety of purposes, from business meetings to study rooms for students to DIY activities; and serve as a technology center and performance and art space. Sun2o Partners LLC and Powerbridge LLC plan to build the Cascade Renewable Transmission System, a 320-kilovolt high-voltage direct current transmission line that would span roughly 100 miles between The Dalles and Portland. Most of the HVDC line would be installed in the Columbia River bed using a hydromassage cable burial machine or jet plow. The jet plow temporarily liquefies the sediment in a trench approximately 18 inches wide, places the cable in the trench, and allows the sediment to settle over the cable, burying it to the depth prescribed in the river bed An approximately 7.5-mile segment of the HDVC line would be buried on land adjacent to the river near Stevenson, Washington, to bypass the dam and Bonneville Dam.
