A joint venture of Clark Construction and DA Everett Construction will lead the $800 million renovation of Bank of America Stadium, according to a press release shared with Construction Dive. Work to improve the home stadium of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, North Carolina, will begin in 2026, team owner Tepper Sports & Entertainment announced Oct. 30.
In addition to the stadium renovation, an indoor field house will be built on the team’s 9-acre practice field near the stadium.
While Bethesda, Md.-based Clark and Charlotte-based DA Everett are slated to deliver the stadium renovations, which will be completed in 2030, two local firms, Rodgers Builders and RJ Leeper Construction, will handle construction at the practice site, according to the release.
Construction work next year will focus on electrical, plumbing, mechanical and HVAC. In the following years, the the project team will be updated audio and video systems, install new lighting, replace all seats, improve concessions and concourses, create a group viewing area in the upper bowl and add outdoor video boards for community gathering outside the stadium.
CAA Icon, a sports and entertainment venue development company, will serve as project manager and owner representative for Tepper Sports & Entertainment. HOK based in St. Louis, the architecture firm that originally designed the stadium in the mid-1990s, it will again offer designs for the stadium’s renovation, according to the release.
Tourist taxes will finance 80% of the project. The Charlotte City Council originally approved the project in June 2024. Last week, the council voted to approve it. 650 million dollars of debt to start working.
Additionally, the city set goals for 15 percent of construction work to be done by minority-owned small businesses and 12 percent by women-owned businesses, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. Both DA Everett Construction and RJ Leeper Construction are minority-owned companies.
The stadium is also home to Major League Soccer team Charlotte FC.
