Google Street ViewThree thieves crashed a van into the driveway of a Pleasant Hill Kohl’s on Thanksgiving evening, ransacking store shelves before fleeing in a car, police said.
The 7.45pm incident on Thursday marked the latest in a string of high-powered robberies – a brazen method of retail theft in which the perpetrators crash a vehicle into a store and then quickly loot the merchandise.
Several such crimes have rocked Bay Area retailers in recent months, including the Dior store in San Francisco’s Union Square, a CVS Pharmacy near Twin Peaks, a Sunglass Hut on the Harbor and a handful of dispensaries. In one particularly surprising case, thieves used a backhoe to smash through the window of a service shop in West Oakland.

Pleasant Hill police say the Kohl’s store at 2302 Monument Blvd. it was closed and empty when three strangers entered, all wearing masks. Officers arrived within minutes, only to be confronted by an unoccupied white van, which the perpetrators apparently abandoned after hitting the east doors of the business.
By that time, the robbers had fled in a white sedan, police said. Pleasant Hill police investigators are looking for leads and are asking anyone with information to call 925-288-4630.
