Lauren Ladowski Kraemer
33, director and vice president
Arc/Murray National Construction
Dallas, Texas
A solver of natural problems and a prominent in mathematics and science, Kraemer explored engineering after high school as a way to do something fun and increase their chances of finding a job.
“The problem solving piece, this was the one I found the most enjoyable,” says Kraemer. “I fell into the world of construction after that.”
A practice in his first year with Arco/Murray was the guspira who lit his industry career, providing not only experience, but also invested -a level of responsibility that was not equated by jobs he interviewed during his higher year.
“I have a lot of really impressive experience outside the bat,” says Kraemer.
After the practice led to a role of full-time project manager at the firm just after graduating from Notre Dame University, he was out and in operation.
“I was not sure that commercial construction was where I wanted to finish, but I loved my practice,” says Kraemer.
He launched his new role that manages different types of projects across the country, from high -end office buildings to a manufacturing facility for hunting plane expulsion, before taking a director of accounts that manages design design work for local and national clients.
He was then asked to move to Dallas in 2018, to start a tenant solution business at the existing office of the firm. Since then, he has advanced: he gained $ 6 million revenue by 2020 on the court for $ 64 million by 2024 and his two -member team over 30 years. The design design represents about 85% of the firm’s projects, up to about 20% in 2019.
“I think the mentality we have is to take care of our people and to assure us [they] They are taking care of our customers, “says Kraemer.” These customers continue to return and occur in this very constant and organic growth year after year. “”
This success has not gone unnoticed by the firm, which raised it to his partner in 2022.
The change of approach has been key, with Arco/Murray moving from a more traditional market design design design from Dallas to Dallas to faster and more profitable design construction with a more flexible approach to customers.
“Ultimately, it allows us to be the easy button for our customers, where they have a single source to go to all design and construction needs,” says Kraemer. “Let’s start to see more and more impulse.”
Browse that growth has not arrived without challenges: it could occur in ARCO/Murray with much of the risk of a project, Kraemer Notes, and demanding the engineers that the firm hires is also project managers.
Kraemer’s engineering mind and business perspectives make them successful in excavating technical details to solve problems and relationship creation and project management. It also grows a successful team, allowing members to make mistakes and not hide from them. “We have to talk -to share it with the group and learn,” he says.
Construction has always been hard, according to Kraemer, but the dynamics of price climbs in the last five years have become a constant battle, one who struggles hiring the right people to deal with these scales.
The impact of Kraemer on Arco/Murray also extends beyond his own team. He was an initial member of his network of women’s operations: a group of women from all his family of companies that improve their connectivity and share educational opportunities throughout the organization.
)[It’s about] Recognizing that there are many women in a predominantly masculine field that go through many of the same situations and conversations you are, “he says.
Welcoming things like peer learning and external speakers, the group started in Chicago with Kraemer and two colleagues gather informally. It became organically became a support group that eventually acquired an official platform and is now used as a hiring tool. It also participates with the preparatory network of young women, which provides university preparation to those of households, mainly low income.
“I am very fortunate to have given me such a great opportunity in my career and I have grown personally so much so,” says Kraemer. “The idea that I now help to be this mentor and this defender and that the support of leadership in the next wave of leaders of my company is really empowering and exciting and frankly, it is what makes me go up and enter the office every day.”
The one who also keeps the burn at the gym in the morning and his nine -month -old daughter at home. Kraemer makes sure to return home to spend time with her before going to bed, “dedicating -totally in the evening in the evening”.
Although you can check your emails or make another catch just before sleeping, that time spent and real quality time with it [daughter] Every day is what I need, from the balance sheet, to be able to return to the office the next day and have motivation to continue doing what I like to do, “says Kraemer.
He adds: “It was a whirlwind of a race and it was a lot of fun.”
