The six-story Grand Challenges Research Building will bring together researchers from across the University of Arizona’s Tucson campus in a facility that is not only physically connected to the rest of the campus, but also conceptually linked to the research being done at the whole university The design includes high performance building and facade systems and is LEED Gold oriented with an EUI of 240 with all renewable electrical sources.

“Apart from tracking the assembly stage of the outer skin, I was inspired to capture life during the construction process, not only through the workers but through the exposed system,” says the drone photographer Jasmin Guzman. “Often in a finished building, this is the stage that the user does not take into account. I’m always inspired by the process, and getting to capture those moments is the best part of my job.”

Guzman has been flying a drone for three years, capturing the progress of various Kitchell construction projects throughout Tucson. The design and construction team for the project consists of Kitchell, ZGF and BWS.
