A section of roof on a 26 -year -old Beijing bridge collapsed on the Chaobai River on April 23, when the cane hanging from an arch to one side of the roof failed, according to Chinese agencies and the media.
Witnesses said that the area of the bridge roof had been lit and because traffic on the bridge stopped, no victims took place, according to Associated Press. Videos on social media showed gray smoke plumes from the sides of the bridge, located in the city’s Shunyi district, AP.
The collapsed cover section was framed by a steel arch. The photos showed the roof of the bridge, which was partially suspended from the hanging reeds of the bow, because they had loose loose on one side.
An article on the partial failure at Chinily.com stated that the cause was a “cables burning fires in the bridge ditch”. The information was attributed to the Beijing Transportation Commission and no explanation of the word “trench” was provided. It may refer to the bridge substructure.
“The fire caused the bridge bars to break,” said Chinaily.com, “which later caused the suspension cables to fail.” The city government “has established an accident investigation team,” the news will have reported.
A video posted on YouTube for China’s observerIt included scenes from the bridge collapse, reported that some kind was built on the bridge before the collapse.
