Eaton Corp. PLC, an industrial manufacturer, plans to spend $ 340 million to adapt a brown field to South Carolina on a plant that produces electricity equipment.
The Beachwood -based company, Ohio, incorporated in Ireland, plans to produce three -phase electric transformers in a building of 861,000 square meters in a 54 -hectare place in Jonesville, SC, which once housed a retailer’s distribution center.
Eaton plans to bid at the end of this year for a contractor, according to a representative. Production is scheduled to start by 2027.
The company, which already manufactures three -phase transformers in two Wisconsin floors, assures that this production will also continue. It also plans to continue to make single -phase phase transformers, assembly and assembly of pad in Texas.
Some electrical equipment like transformers have had long time in recent years. Eaton says he has invested more than $ 1 billion in its North -American electricity manufacturing since 2023 to increase the production of energy distribution equipment, electric sets and network infrastructure.
“Demand for electrical energy increases significantly and our solutions are in the heart of energy systems everywhere, from the use network to industrialists, data centers, buildings and much more,” said Mike Yelton, President of the Region of America in Eaton, in a statement.
The South Carolina Department of Commerce said that its Coordinated Economic Development Council approved the job development credits in the project. State officials also granted a dollars $ 10 million rural infrastructure funds to support the project.
Eaton has 10 other facilities in South Carolina.
